Patient Safety

Overview

As many as 98,000 Americans die each year because of medical errors. Others suffer disability or permanent functional impairment. And hundreds of thousands more experience the risks associated with medically unnecessary or ineffective tests, procedures and hospitalizations.

Hospitals and nursing homes in Maryland and Virginia are working with HQI to eliminate opportunities for patient harm. By joining together to learn from each other and take action in their community, they are reducing hospital-acquired infections and improving the quality of long-term care.
