Stopping Sepsis in Virginia Hospitals & Nursing Homes

Sepsis is the leading cause of hospital admissions from U.S. nursing homes. More than one million Americans are diagnosed with sepsis every year; 25 to 50 percent of those patients will die as a result.

Healthcare providers and staff can play a critical role in preventing and treating sepsis. That’s why we are inviting you to join our new initiative: Stopping Sepsis in Virginia Hospitals & Nursing Homes. Health Quality Innovators (HQI), in partnership with the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA), will provide your organization with evidence-based best practices to identify sepsis early and reduce mortality rates.

For more information about this initiative, nursing home representatives can contact Deborah Smith at or 804.289.5320. Hospital representatives can contact Betsy Cole Archer at or 804.965.1216.
